Wedding Specific FAQs:
(Please read the general FAQs first, some are VERY relevant!)

ASAP, really. we get booked up pretty quick at certain times of the year and have to work on a first-come, first-served basis.
What info do you need to give us a wedding quote?
A few things;
A) The date of your wedding
B) The Location/Locations
C) Roughly how long you think you might need us for (a estimate is fine, no one knows exactly!).
D) Your names and contact details
Why do wedding photographers cost so much?
Where do we start?...I know...
Your Memories: Your wedding day is probably the most important single day of your entire lives. You have spent so much time, effort and suffered so much stress and anxiety in the lead up to it. you want the day to be perfect and you want every element of it to be beautifully captured, that's why you are reading this right now - right? We want to do that for you too, thats why we do what we do!
Our Time: If you consider that we (i'm not talking about ALL photographers, but "WE"...) spend somewhere in the region of 4-5 times the amount of time editing than we do shooting. It's REALLY important to us that every image we give you is great quality and you look your best! That means that if we do a 10-hour day shooting, that's well over an entire week's worth of full-time editing - how much would you charge someone for that?
Cover: Add on top of this our insurance costs, which don't come cheap We have over 1 million pounds worth of indemnity and liability insurance to make sure we, and you, are covered whatever happens on the day, before or after. THIS is a biggie and gobsmackingly some wedding photographers DON'T have it! you MUST check!
Our equipment; We have a host of gear on a wedding day. I wont bore you with details, but Lenses, Flashes and costs us an absolute fortune, not to mention the Pro-Body SLR Cameras (that we have a minimum of 3 of for a wedding!) these suffer wear & tear and need replacing more regularly than your personal camera.
Tax: Just like you hard working guys & girls who get a massive chunk of your earnings taken away by the tax man, so do we! Pro photographers don't pocket the full amount you pay them (unfortunately).
Experience: We have shot countless weddings, we know the way the day works, how stuff flows and how to deal with people to get the best results and how to deal with problems quickly. We know what details to capture (and what not to!) and when when things are going to happen during a ceremony to make sure the important bits are captured at exactly the right time.
How much do you charge then?
See our Pricing page for a rough idea, but for a definitive quote you need to contact us! We think we are extremely reasonable. Like anything; you get what you pay for so be very wary of "seems too good to be true" offers; they almost always are!
My friend has an expensive camera and has offered to shoot our wedding for a fraction of the price, why not just use them?
The expense of a wedding photographer often forces couples to use friends and family to capture their big day. You've spent a fortune on other details, why pay a fortune for someone you don't know when uncle Bob can shoot it on his DSLR?
Well, first you may want to ask yourself...
Does he have insurance? Will it harm your relationship if all goes pear-shaped and you lose photos or miss a shot? is his equipment up to the job? Does he have spares of absolutely EVERYTHING, and enough memory & batteries to save ALL the shots for the whole day? Does he know exactly what and when to capture the important bits of the day? Do you trust he will get every shot you want the way you want it? Can he create the same look as a Pro photographer? Is he 100% familiar with his cameras and know how to react when lighting conditions change drastically? If you can answer yes to these then book him, quick!!!
Will we meet you before the wedding day?
Oh Yes! Many photographers will meet you for the first time on the morning of your wedding! we won't! We like to meet our couples to have an informal chat and give a quotation for exactly what you want after you enquire with us. We then keep in contact as an when you want after booking, right up until 1-2 weeks before the wedding when we will have a meeting to finalise details and make amendments.
I have a few ideas for wedding photos, can you accommodate them?
Of course! We love trying new things and working with your ideas. We can't guarentee we can do everything you find as it depends on a lot of factors, but we will give it our best shot. Just ask!
How many images will I receive after the wedding?
Now, this depends on how long we are shooting for how many guests you have and how many posed photos you would like, amongst other things, we can't guarantee a minimum quantity, but on average we'd say probably 300-1000 image files depending on how long we are shooting for.
Do you do bridal preparation shots on the morning of the wedding?
Yes! and we love it! it's one of the most natural parts of the day in terms of capturing raw emotion and forms the foundation of the time-line of your day. It's your last hour or so as an unmarried person, and the nervous laughter and unhealthy amounts of champagne before lunchtime are always a recipe for incredible shots. Details, jewelry, shoes, dress are all there for us to capture beautifully and we make sure the bride is full made up before shooting. hair and make-up shots are often staged to look real, with you looking your absolute best! hair and make-up artists are used to doing this sort of thing for photographers! :)
What about Groom prep shots?
Of course; guys often don't want us there if their prep consists of throwing a suit on and playing Xbox with a beer or three, but we are happy to capture the ups and downs of the dudes getting ready! there are two of us, so one can shoot the bridal party whilst one is with the groomsmen!
Do you take formal photos or candid?
Both; put simply. If you prefer one or the other then we can change our bias though.
When will we be able to view our wedding photos?
This depends on our workload; typically 3-5 weeks. but we always quote 6 weeks to be certain.
Do you do engagement shoots?
Yes we do! check out the pricing page
What will happen if it rains?
We always plan a rain-contingency and agree it with you before the day. It doesn't matter when you book your wedding; if it's in the UK there's always a risk of rain!
What happens if I have to cancel my wedding?
You need to let us know more than one calendar month before your wedding day, otherwise full payment must legally be made. Your date is held via the £150 deposit, which is non-refundable at any point.
How long do you spend taking 'formal' photos?
It depends how many you want; of the two of you and group shots. Typically 5-15 mins for group shots and 30-45 mins for bride & groom.
Do I need to feed my photographers on the day?
Yes please! Like any well-oiled machine we need fuel! :) A modest bar meal or equivalent is usually perfect if we are with you all day. If we eat at the same time as you and your guests it works well as we are refreshed and ready to shoot the speeches and first dance - plus you don't want photos of people eating!
Do you mind our guests taking photos?
Not at all. Your family and friends want their own memories of the day too. As long as they don't get in the way of us working for you, it's perfectly fine. If they can produce photos better than us with then we're doing something very wrong! (p.s. - they won't!)
What happens with my photos when you leave after the wedding?
We go home, load the photos onto our editing computer and create the first back-up of the RAW files. The editing process then begins.
Why do you need to edit all the photos?
Each and every photo gets the VIP treatment, they will all be checked for things like crop angle, composition, colour, white balance, tone, exposure and contast, amonst other things. THEN, and only then can the real, creative editing begin. the process that individualises our photos and makes them stand out as a professional's work. We take great pride in our editing, and never out-source image retouching.
How long will it take to edit all the photos?
Well... That depends on how many we take in the first place, and how long your wedding day is. It's roughly considered that a wedding photographer will spend FIVE times longer editing your photos than shooting them. That's a 50 hours of editing for a 10 hour shoot day.
For this reason, we say 6-8 weeks turn-around time for our busiest periods of the year (generally June - October) and usually a couple of weeks minimum at our quietest times.
How long after the wedding will you keep our photos?
Forever! (probably). Our aim is to keep your photos for at least 10 years as a back-up for you, as well as for our own posterity.
It looks like all your packages are digital, do you supply albums too?
Absolutely, but these are bespoke and hand-crafted so you will have to enquire to get a quotation for this as an optional extra. we are working with our print supply specialist to secure a wedding album and should have samples soon.
Please note that all the written content of this page is copyright of Infinite Moments and re-distribution/re-publication will be considered as violation of this.
